The netherworld of the Force

Why: The disappearing Jedi trick has been a mystery among fans for many years. The explanation that Yoda provides is not bad, but I was very disappointed with its presentation. It feels like the movie goes completely out of its way just to explain that point in an instant, as if they couldn’t find a more strategic place to put those lines.

How: The only way to do this without doing any drastic changes to the movie would be to place the conversation before deciding the fate of the twins. It could also be modified a bit to go something like this:

OBI-WAN: We must stay out of sight. Any contact with this new Empire will surely be death for us.

YODA: I agree. But with your new training, death will not be the last step in your journey.

OBI-WAN: Training?

YODA: Your old master has learned the path to immortality, and has returned from the netherworld of the Force.

OBI-WAN: Qui-Gon!

YODA: How to commune with him, I will teach you.
