“The Jedi master who instructed me”

Why: When Obi-Wan appears before Luke on Hoth and tells him to go to Dagobah to find Yoda, he refers to him as “the Jedi master who instructed me.” This implies that Yoda was his master rather than Qui-Gon, which we know to be false. Yoda did, however, instruct younglings in AOTC and it is a possibility that he did the same with Obi-Wan when he was younger, apart from him constantly giving him advice throughout his life. Therefore, Yoda did instruct Obi-Wan, but he was not the master responsible for his training.

How: Very simply replace the word “the” with “a”, to make it, “There you will learn from Yoda, a Jedi master who instructed me.” It works perfectly and fixes up a plot error with ease. Along with this, another minor change will have to be done to the dialogue when Ben talks to Yoda and says, "Was I any different when you trained me?" by simply removing the words, "when you trained me".

  1. Personally, I couldn't care less about the prequels. Yoda should always have been Kenobi's instructor. That was clearly the implication in the original trilogy and it was a relationship that should have been explored in the prequels.

I am a believer that the prequels should be made to fit the original movies, not the other way around. And, hopefully, this is something Adywan will fix when he gets round to Revisiting the prequels.

  2. I agree completely, but the problem is that some of the things are gonna be quite hard, and even impossible to fix without making all new movies. I for one love Qui-Gon as a character and can't imagine the saga without him. I don't know how Yoda could be made to be Obi-Wan's master in the PT...

  3. If you noticed, the changes list for AOTC is longer than ANH, ESB, ROTJ, and TPM put together, same for ROTS. So we're definitely pro-OT, but changing one syllable in ESB is a lot more realistic than changing the prequels entirely, which I doubt even Adywan would have the time and resources to do. That's just my opinion anyway, we'll see how the people vote...
