Why: I think there should be more emphasis on Padmé’s reaction to finding out about Palpatine being a Sith. He has been her friend for many years and only recently had he started doing things that she doesn’t agree with. Her finding out that he’s a Sith should be a total shock for her because he was a close friend, but at the same time make sense to her because of his recent actions and especially the formation of the Empire. Besides, Obi-Wan throwing all those new facts at Padmé without even a breather in the middle would be too much for anyone to take.
How: After Obi-Wan says, “Palpatine is the Sith Lord we’ve been looking for,” have Padmé say something like, “Palpatine?!” out of surprise. Obi-Wan can take a little pause and then continue, “Yes, and after the death of…”
